The leader of Anambra Joint Enforcement Team (ANJET), Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu says some of the criminals arrested in Onitsha are already in prison.
Speaking to ANN in Awka, Okpalaezeukwu who is also the leader of Anambra Youth Volunteers and also SSA on security said after some investigations, some where released because they are innocent.

In his words “We have sustained that raid and Upper Iweka is calm, safe and secured. We are profiling close to a thousand youths who are homeless and resides in Upper Iweka, to enable us differentiate between criminals and barrow pushers.

 “Most of them sleep in the tonnel, gardens and some in motor parks, claiming to be barrow pushers but because we don’t want to sectionalize or intimidate anybody, we now have there identity. This will help us in any of our raid to fish out the hoodlums.Â
“We have deployed a team of local youth volunteers around the state to support law enforcement agencies with intelligence and enforcement where necessary. Going forward, ANJET and other law enforcement agencies will continue to make Upper Iweka and environs inhabitable for criminals.

It will be recalled that ANN reported that about 80 persons described as notorious criminals where arrested in Upper Iweka area of Onitsha, Anambra State.Â
The suspected criminals where said to be responsible for petty crimes around Upper Iweka, an area noted for high rate of criminality in the commercial city of Onitsha.
