* Mr. Chukwudi Okonkwo has emerged the President General of Ebenebe Town Union in Awka North local government area of Anambra state after the union conducted election to usher in new executive members.

ANN reports that Mr. Okonkwo emerged the new President-General of the town after garnering five hundred and one votes while Mr. Emma Nweke won the first Vice President-General post with three hundred and sixty-four votes and Mr. Ezekiel Jideofor became the Second Vice President-General with two hundred and eighty-three votes.

* The Governor of Anambra state Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR has condemned the cult-related war among rival groups and subsequent killings in Obosi and Ifite, Okpuno in Idemili North and Awka South Council Areas respectively. In a press release by the chief press secretary to Soludo, Mr. Christian Aburime and made available to ANN stated that the attention of Anambra State Government has  drawn to killings within the State as a consequence of cult-related war among rival cult groups in Okpuno, Ifite and Obosi communities.

* The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ezeakunne Foundation, Chief Vincent Nwankwo has distributed two hundred bags of rice to the less privileged persons in his community, Onneh in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra state. Four persons from the four villages in the community were also selected and empowered with a motorcycle each, Chief Nwankwo also used the event to open his new house and thanked God for using his Ezeakunne Foundation to bless many lives in the community for the past ten years and explained that the foundation was born out of his desire to alleviate the plights of his people and from his passion to serve humanity.

* The CEO of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, Dr. Innocent Chukwuma and members of his family observes a solemn celebration in honour of their late mother Mrs. Martina Chukwuma today at the residence of his elder brother, Gabros at Nnewi, Anambra State. The event kicked off early in the morning with a holy mass at St. Michael Archangel Parish, Nnewi where friends and well wishers attended in memory of the beloved mother of the IVM Boss. They proceeded to the graveside at home for more prayers for the eternal rest of the departed soul. The prayers were led by V. Rev. Fr. Joachim Maduka Umeigwilo of St. Michael’s Parish.

* The bishop on the Niger, Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo has said that year 2023 will bring comfort, healing and solution to people’s problems. In his new year message, Bishop Nwokolo defined year 2023 as a year of development and transformation as the Lord, who is the owner of the earth will do new things that will surprise everybody. He urged people to surrender their plans to God noting that new year comes with new vision and expectations where Nigerians want to see a change in the way the economy, education and resources of this country are managed.

* The media personalities, tech and creative minds in Nnewi has come together at the Nnewi Creatives, Tech and Media Hangout; 2022 to rub minds on the innovative ways to make the best use of the vast opportunities in the creative industry. Organized by the Founder of Fresh Minds communication, Mr. Cornel Osigwe and the CEO of Ubanized Media, Mr. Chikeluba Emenike, the event was quite a great way to end the year as it took place on the 31st of December, 2022 at Dabara Hotels, Nnewi.

* The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor has appealed to Nigerians to avoid being influenced by money during next month’s general elections in the country. Most Reverend Ezeokafor who made the appeal in his new year message, said it is time for the electorate to declare their stand on how to better the country. He decried the poor governance in the country which has led to untold economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment and added that there is need for change to liberate the masses from literal bondage.

* Miss Amara Amaobi, a physically challenged young lady who didn’t allow her disability to serve as an impediment to her as she engaged in subsistent trading, got terrible news on the morning of October 2022; Her small shop, where she fends for a living, just got gutted by fire. Overwhelmed with anguish, Amara had to resort to friends for help, who in turn went on social media to assist her to solicit funds as all hopes seemed lost. As luck will have it, Senator Ubah read the plea post for assistance on a WhatsApp platform and instructed his special adviser on disability, Mr A. Okonkwo (Anunuebe Nnewi), to reach out to her and verify the authenticity of the story. 

* Dr. Tony Nwoye, the Labour Party’s senate candidate for Anambra North, has made fun of reports that he and Prince Arthur Eze had forged an arrangement before the 2017 governorship election in Anambra State. The medical doctor-turned-media politician’s aide, Mr. Egbuna Nduanya, pointed out that Nwoye’s signature was not on the agreement and claimed that bringing up his name in the controversy was just another attempt by Anambra North’s political gladiators to embarrass him before the 2023 National Assembly elections in February.

* Chief Ikechukwu Agbogu of Umuochiogu kindred Nri,Anaocha council area, has built and donated five hundred KVA transformer, tarred about two kilometers of road, ultra-modern village hall, water borehole and three hundred KVA generator to his kindred.

Ndi Umuochiogu kindred Nri and their friends from within and outside the village converged to witness God’s blessings upon them through their son, Chief Ikechukwu Agbogu.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo, the Chairman of Anambra State Traditional Rulers’ Council and Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, many other traditional rulers, some Nollywood actors led by Harry B, and other notable individuals.

* The Labour Party senatorial candidate for Anambra Central in the forthcoming general election, Senator Victor Umeh, has explained why his successor and the National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Ike Oye, did not recognized his presence in his Ngene village, Amawbia, in Awka South local government area of the state. It was gathered that Umeh, who left APGA for LP after losing at the APGA Senatorial primary election, was in the community to witnessed this year 2023 Ezeriam Festival organised by Ngene village, where the Labour Party candidate for Awka North/South Federal Constituency, Prof. Lilian Orogbu, received the Chieftaincy title of Ada Di Ebube Ndigbo alongside other 20 illustrious personalities that were also bestowed with various awards for their contribution to the development of the community and society,

* The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Media Warriors Forum has tackled acclaimed Anambra political godfather, Chris Uba over his recent comment where he boasted that he made Ngige, Obiano and Soludo governors. National Coordinator, APGA Media Warriors Forum, Evangelist Chinedu Obigwe in a statement released in Awka yesterday described the statement credited to Uba as falsehood from the pit of hell that lacks any iota of truth.

* More reactions has continued after Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s nominee for president, attended the Crossover night at the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry in Uke, Anambra State. The former governor of Anambra reportedly received a standing ovation from worshipers who were happy to see him in the church, according to a motion image of the occasion. As Nigerians elect new leaders in the coming year, Obi, who spoke to the cheering crowd in Igbo, expressed confidence that the nation would change for the better.

In wishing the LP candidate luck in the approaching presidential election, Rev. Fr. Ebube Muonso emphasized that Obi is the Moses sent to deliver the country from its current ills.

* Putting aside political party differences, the Executive Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has commended the lawmaker representing Nnewi North in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Nonso Smart Okafor, with regard to his push for the construction of roads in Nnewi. Governor Soludo spoke highly of the efforts of the Lawmaker during the 59th Ofala festival and 97th birthday of the Traditional Ruler of Nnewi, His Royal Highness, Igwe Dr. Kenneth Orizu (III), on Wednesday, 28th December, 2022.
