* Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra state has ordered the youths in the troubled Anaku community, in Ayamelum local government area of the state, to release a soldier they abducted, and return his gun taken by the decadent youths. ANN recalls that last week there was a communal clash between Anaku and Omor communities in Ayamelum local government area which resulted in the abduction of one of the soldiers that came to enforce peace in the area.

* Bonafide owners of Ogbidogbo land located at Obosi community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra state have vowed to confront some soldiers allegedly stationed by the Managing Director of Rotech Energy Services Limited, Chief Austin Oguejiofor who they accused of forcefully grabbing their ancestral land. They said although they acknowledge the fact that it would be quite suicidal for them as unarmed civilians to confront armed soldiers, death would not scare them from asking the soldiers to vacate their land for them to move in and commence this year’s farming season to produce enough foods to feed themselves and their families.

* The Appeal Court Awka will on Wednesday commence hearing on the appeal filed by Senator Victor Umeh against the  judgement  of the federal high court Awka which sacked him as the candidate of the Labour party for Anambra central senatorial zone. The appeal is ready and will be heard on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. Umeh is asking the Appeal Court to nullify the judgement of the federal high court Awka and reinstate him into the race.

* Keke tricycle operators in Anambra state have declared war against touts and fake revenue collectors in the state. They are targeting over 800 people suspected to be touts fake revenue collectors for the month. Similarly the operators  appealed to the state governor Prof Charles Soludo to lift the six months ban on the union stating that they have  set up local task force to work with the state government in fighting revenue

* A man whose name cannot be immediately ascertained has been nabbed with fake new naira notes in Oraukwu community of Anambra State. In a video making the rounds on social media, the man was seen after he has been arrested with the notes. The notes consisting of about three bundles of N500 new notes, which amounted to N150,000 was confiscated from him.

* Anambra State Police Command has reiterated its determination to arrest those involved in a communal clash between Anaku and Omor communities in Ayamelum local government area which resulted in the abduction of one of the soldiers that came to enforce peace in the area. Speaking through the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Ikenga Tochukwu, the command said it is not only striving to rescue the security personnel and recover his arms, but would also arrest the perpetrators.

* Efforts to enthrone quality leadership at the grassroots; in order to achieve the desired transformation, which will metamorphose into higher spheres of leadership in the future formed the crux of a one-day summit organised for secondary school prefects in Awka, the Anambra State capital. The leadership summit, which was powered by FutureHolds True Value-Impact Foundation, has as its theme, “Maximize This Opportunity”, and featured classroom management training for some teachers.

* Police Operatives foiled an attack by armed men on the Ogidi Police station, demobilize one of the armed men, and recovered many expanded cartridges and 25 litres of PMS. The hoodlums/arsonists came in their numbers with an unmarked Toyota Hiace bus, a Toyota Hilux and three motorcycles, started shooting indiscriminately and attempted to gain access in Ogidi Police Station, Idemili North. 

* All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Candidate for Anambra state House of Assembly, Ekwusigo constituency Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme has assured young minds that he is willing and ready to engage the youths and hearness their skills.

Ofodeme who spoke to ANN in an interview at the Awka City Stadium stated that Anambra state government and the state Football Association (FA) are willing to make every skillful player in the state to shine. 

* The crisis in the ancient town of Alor has been resolved by the team of Hon. Tonycollins Nwabunwanne, Mr. Commissioner, Anambra State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs. The Town Union leadership crisis which has lasted for so many years and with several court cases attached to it took the consideration and sacrifice from the major stakeholders of Alor to be brought to a halt.

* Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has described the current APGA-led government as responsible and responsive. The Governor stated this while inspecting the 14.48-kilometer Okpuno Roads made up seven linked roads
