* The Commissioner for Education Anambra state Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has announced the closure of the Tower Primary School Oba in Idemili South Local Government Area for its involvement in examination malpractice, during the 2023 Transition Placement Examination. ANN reports that Chuma-Udeh made the announcement after the meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Education to investigate a case of examination malpractice reported against a PTA teacher, Precious Chibuzo, who worked as an invigilator during the examination at the Umuogali Community Primary School Oba.

* Ahead of Ogbunike Progress Union (OPU) general elections scheduled to take place on Saturday, 8th April, 2023, the initiator of Team Make Ogbunike Great (TMOG) and convener of Ogbunike Leadership Summit, Dr. Chuma-Odili Harris Udokamma a.k.a Ogene Ogbunike, has tasked the good people of Ogbunike to embrace peace and shun violence. He made the call at his country home, Azu Ogbunike, last weekend during a chat with some aspirants. Ogene urged them to go and sensitize the youths on the dangers of violence before, during and after the OPU elections.

* A mother, Mrs Chika Omesi, is protesting against the suspension and expulsion of her child, Chiamaka Omesi, from Mater Amabilis Secondary School, Umuoji, Anambra State, over a post she made on the school’s Facebook wall. Omesi, an indigene of Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, lamented that her 15-year-old daughter in Senior Secondary School two was “unjustly” used for child labour by the school in a construction site for three days as a punishment for some flimsy reasons by the school manager.

* A former Minister of Aviation in Nigeria and former Corps Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Chief Osita Chidoka has lost his mother, Deaconess Victoria Nneka Chidoka, to the cold hands of death. Chief Chidoka announced the demise in a short statement issued to newsmen in Awka, Anambra State capital, on Tuesday, on behalf of his father, Ogbueshi Ben Chidoka and the family. According to him, Deaconess Chidoka (Nee Nzelu) slept in the Lord late hours of Monday, April 3, 2023, at her residence, after a brief illness. She was aged 75.

* Ozonna, a son of Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State, says he has been doing some odd jobs in order to make his music career a reality. Taking to his Instagram stories, the lad apologised to his friends and fans explaining that he has been away from social media due to his long hours of work schedule. Ozonna wrote, “I know l’ve been taking a lot of breaks from socials lately but it’s only cuz l’ve been working like crazy, taking on extra hours, even taking on some odd jobs so I can properly invest into my music. It may be a slower process but trust & believe it’s going to get done.”(sic)

* The traditional ruler of Awa Community in Orumba North Local government area Igwe Israel Ezue says Governor Chukwuma Soludo has through his purposefully leadership redefined governance. Speaking in Awa on the one year in office of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Igwe Ezue maintained that the ongoing massive road construction and reconstruction in different parts of the state which Awa Community benefitted is a clear testament that the Governor is committed to opening up the hinterlands across Anambra State.

*  A civic organisation, the Advocacy for Alleged Witches, has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, Southeast Nigeria, to ensure that one Mrs Ozoemena, accused of killing her daughter through witchcraft is safe. Mrs Ozoemena, a woman from Uga community in the Aguata local government area of the state was on Saturday tortured and humiliated by villagers over their suspicion that she was responsible for the death of her daughter.

* The Government of Anambra State has rewarded the pupils of Triumphant Cross Schools Oba, Idemili North LGA for reporting malpractice during the 2023 Transition Placement Examination. While addressing the Anambra Crusaders against Examination Malpractice, the Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh applauded the pupils, encouraging them to avoid distraction from anybody.

* The member representing Njikoka One Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Dr. Timothy Ifedioramma has advocated electronic system of voting during elections to arrest electoral manipulations. The legislator made the call in Awka while reacting to just concluded 2023 general election. Ifedioramma explained that paper-based voting method which Nigeria uses to elect her leaders is characterized with human interference and can never be reliable.
