Incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party is set to be declared the winner of Saturday’s Osun State governorship election after securing the highest number of votes.
The Independent National Electoral Commission announced the final results from all 30 local government areas at its headquarters in Osogbo early on Sunday.
A review of the declared results showed Adeleke polling 511,067 votes, ahead of All Progressives Congress candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who received 444,811 votes — a margin of more than 66,000.
Adeleke won in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while the APC took 11.
African Democratic Congress candidate Najeem Salaam finished third with 17,180 votes.
A formal declaration by the returning officer is expected once the final tally is completed.
