The People of Ozzu village of Ndiukwuenu, in Orumba North Local Government Area, have staged a peaceful protest to the Anambra State Government House in Awka to call for the immediate intervention of the state government in the seizure and mortgaging of the “Mamu River Forest Reserve”, as well as wanton destruction of their farmlands and other valuables by suspected land grabbers.
The President General of the Ndiukwuenu, Mr. Ezechukwu Okoli, while speaking said

Commissioner for Lands, but are not satisfied with his response, calling on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to urgently intervene in the matter, to save the villagers from intimidation and life threatening attacks from the land grabbers.
Speaking, Ozzu village Chairman, Mr. Sunday Onwubuemeli; the village Youth LPriscilHon. Valentine Obieze and the Woman Leader, Mrs. Priscilla Okolialleged said the suspects have on several occasions arrested both young and old members of the village, and now deployed over five bulldozers to clear the Mamu River Forest Reserve, which is the major farmland of the villagers who have no other source of livelihood except farming, regretting that the act has left them nothing to feed on.
Responding on behalf of the state government, the Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Political Matters, Dr. Alex Obiegbolu, commended the protesters for their peaceful conduct during the demonstration and assured them of the Governor’s intervention in the case in no distant time.

the protesters were seen with placards with inscriptions like “Mr. Governor please come to our aid”, “Our lands are being stolen by land grabbers”, “Our people are dying of hunger”, among others.
