Anambra Govt empowers 22 pilot schools with Smart Learn Initiative

 

No fewer than 22 pilot schools in Anambra State have been empowered with the Smart Learn Anambra Initiative of the State Government.

The newly-launched initiative is the brainchild of the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, and supported by Anambra State ICT Agency.

Briefing tech-savvy newsmen in Awka, the Managing Director, Anambra ICT Agency, Mr Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata said the Smart Learn Anambra initiative is a testament to the unwavering commitment of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo to prioritize education and technology as cornerstones of sustainable development in the state.

He noted that this innovative program is designed to empower both students and teachers by integrating modern technology into classrooms, in line with the state’s vision for a tech-driven future.

“The Governor is interested in education, which is why he came up with free education. Hence, he want to see every Anambra child exposed to ICT skills so as to enable him compete favourably globally while elevating the quality of teaching from teachers.

“For the past one month, teachers who underwent intensive training, have gotten their tablets and smartphones, so they will be teaching with these gadgets on the smart board.

“You could imagine a child come inside the classroom and have live videos to back up what he is being taught. The ambiance of the child’s learning and instills in him new curiosity in education powered by ICT,” CFA maintained.

Mr Agbata further revealed that the selected pilot schools will be equipped with state-of-the-art digital tools, e-learning platforms, and interactive content, giving learners and educators access to resources that will enhance teaching and learning experiences.

“At its core, Smart Learn Anambra is focused on bridging the digital divide—ensuring that no student is left behind, regardless of location or background.

“By fostering an engaging and forward-thinking learning environment, the initiative seeks to prepare students for future careers, particularly in areas such as technology, science, and digital innovation.”

The 22 Pilot Schools are:

1. Girls’ Secondary School, Igboukwu

2. Urban Girls Secondary School, Fegge, Onitsha

3. Igwebuike Grammar School, Awka

4. Community High School, Nanka

5. Community Secondary School, Isuofia

6. Government Technical College, Ihiala

7. Comprehensive Secondary School, Okpoko

8. Amikwe Secondary School, Omor

9. Community Secondary School, Amansea

10. Community High School, Nawfia

11. Union Secondary School, Obosi

12. Girls Secondary School, Ojoto

13. Nnewi High School

14. Cave City Secondary School, Ogbunike

15. Ado Girls School, Onitsha

16. Ide Secondary School, Enugwu-Ukwu

17. Flora Azikiwe Model Secondary School, Neni

18. Justice Chinwuba Memorial School, Aguleri

19. Community Secondary School, Oraifite

20. Community Secondary School, Umunnachi

21. Union Secondary School, Amichi

22. Uga Boys Secondary School, Uga

As the pilot phase unfolds, the government is optimistic about scaling the program to reach even more schools in the near future.
