The Transition Committee Chairman of Awka North Local Government Area, Hon. ThankGod Anago has urged the new President General of Mgbakwu Town Union, Mr. Chukwu-Basil Nwokeoma and his executive to use their new positions to foster peace, unity and progress in the community.
Angel Network News reports that Anago while speaking to newsmen shortly after the Mgbakwu Town Union election which was held recently, urged Mr. Nwokeoma to see his victory as an avenue to unite Ndi Mgbakwu at home and in the diaspora.
The Awka North Mayor appreciated the Anambra State Government for the enabling environment under which the election was held peacefully and thanked the Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Hon. TonnyCollins Nwabunwanne for his doggedness in enduring that communities in the state are having peaceful town union elections.
He assured that the local government will continue to work and partner with presidents general and traditional rulers in order to move Awka North forward in terms of infrastructural development and peaceful coexistence.
Comrade Anago admonished the Nwokeoma-led Mgbakwu Town Union executive to extend an olive branch to those who contested with them, adding that the overall interest of Ndi Mgbakwu must supercede personal interest at all times.
He, however, warned them not to toy with the mandate given them by Ndi Mgbakwu under any guise by seeing themselves as lords, rather they should always bear in mind that they are called to serve and not to be served and must be held accountable for any unwholesome attitude by Mgbakwu community.
