Boundary Committee Intervene Over Dispute Between Ifitedunu, Awkuzu And Umunya

The Anambra State Boundary Committee (ASBC) Technical Team convened a meeting with representatives of Igbuala Ifitedunu in Dunukofia Local Government Area, as well as Igbu Awkuzu and Ojobi Umunya communities in Oyi Local Government Area, over the lingering boundary dispute among the neighbouring communities.

The meeting, held on on Tuesday, May 20, 2026, at the Anambra State Boundary Committee Office, was moderated by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor on Boundary Matters Hon. Ekene Okoye.

Addressing the stakeholders, Hon. Okoye
who represented the Deputy Governor, Dr. OnyekaChukwu Ibezim, emphasized that dialogue remains a veritable tool for achieving lasting peace and resolving disputes amicably.

Following presentations made by representatives of the affected communities, the committee advised all parties to refrain from actions capable of escalating tensions or causing crises.

They were further urged to embrace peaceful engagement as the surest path to sustainable development and harmonious coexistence.

the Executive Secretary of the State Boundary Committee, Dr. Olisa Mba; the State Boundary Committee Project Surveyor, Surv. Oluchukwu Uzochukwu; and other committee officials attended the meeting.
