Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been named Premier League Player of the Season.
The Portuguese midfielder edged out strong competition to claim the prestigious individual award for the 2025-26 campaign. He was also recently named Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year.
Fernandes equalled the Premier League record for assists in a single season with his 20th assist against Nottingham Forest last weekend. He has scored eight goals in 37 appearances, helping United finish third and secure Champions League qualification.
The 31-year-old created a league-high 132 chances this season, 43 more than the next best player, Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai.
He becomes the first Manchester United player to win the award since defender Nemanja Vidic in 2011. The winner is decided by a combination of public votes and a panel of football experts.
Other shortlisted players included Arsenal trio David Raya, Gabriel and Declan Rice, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, Brentford’s Igor Thiago, and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White.
United face Brighton in their final Premier League match of the season on Sunday.
