Manchester City have officially appointed Enzo Maresca as their new head coach on a three-year contract until June 2029.
Maresca replaces Pep Guardiola and will take immediate charge of first-team affairs at the Etihad Stadium, including a key role in the club’s upcoming transfer strategy.
The 45-year-old Italian returns to City, where he previously served as assistant coach under Guardiola during the club’s historic 2023 treble-winning season. He also managed City’s Elite Development Squad earlier in his career.
City described the appointment as a continuation of their successful possession-based philosophy. Maresca has earned praise for his tactical acumen and is viewed as the ideal candidate to lead the club into its next chapter.
The move comes days after Guardiola’s emotional farewell following a decade in charge that delivered 20 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and one Champions League.
An official unveiling and details of Maresca’s backroom staff are expected in the coming days.
