Verydarkman (VDM) has revealed details of a private meeting he held with former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, describing the encounter as an unusual plea for help from the nation’s former top military officer.
In a video recounting the incident, the activist said he was unexpectedly informed on November 19 that soldiers were searching for him. “Army ke?” he recalled asking in confusion, adding that he initially feared the visit might be linked to his past criticisms of the general.
Despite his anxiety, he agreed to follow the officers. “Two things came into my head. If they wan kpa me, they for don kpa me… so I just said no wahala. Let’s go,” he said.
According to him, he was transported to a military base in Asokoro, where General Musa personally received him. “When they opened the door, guess who I saw? Christopher Musa… the person wey I blast online,” he recounted.
Once inside, he said the general dismissed everyone else from the room to speak with him privately. “He looked at me and said: ‘Verydarkman.’ I said, ‘Sir.’ He said, ‘I need your help.’”
The activist said Musa specifically sought his firsthand account of the violence in Yelwata, insisting that his early presence at the scene made his observations valuable.
“You were the first person with a camera that went there… you should tell me everything you noticed that day,” Musa reportedly told him.
Verydarkman said the general listened carefully, thanked him, and asked to be kept informed of any new findings. A photo taken the next day — June 20, 2025 — was shared as evidence of the meeting.
Reacting to recent news that Musa has been removed as Chief of Defence Staff and nominated as Minister of Defence by President Bola Tinubu, the activist said he felt compelled to speak out.
“When they said they had removed him… I just shook my head,” he said. “That man was looking for solutions. For him to call me, an activist, and look me in the eyes and say, ‘I need your help’ — that’s someone with no pride, willing to get information from anywhere.”
