God Is Still In Search Of A Godly Generation: Bishop Ezeofor

The Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Bishop Samuel Ezeofor, has called on married couples to seek God’s grace in protecting their families against the attacks of the devil.

Bishop Ezeofor made the call during a sermon at St. Mary’s Church, Umuomaku at a special thanksgiving service marking the end of the 21st Aguata Diocesan Women’s Conference. He described the family as the smallest but most important unit of both the Church and society.

According to the bishop, attacks on marriages remain one of the devil’s easiest strategies for destabilizing society. He urged couples to remain steadfast and resist every attempt to undermine their homes.

Speaking on the conference theme, “God’s Great Task for the Church: The Great Commitment – Raising a Godly Generation,” Bishop Ezeofor attributed many of society’s challenges to ungodliness. He urged participants to internalize the conference’s message and promote godly values within their families, churches, and communities to raise a generation grounded in faith and moral uprightness.

The prelate, who also serves as the National Chairman of the Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion Nigeria, observed that the increasing practice of taking oaths during church activities, including ordinations and admission into knighthood, reflects a growing lack of trust. He encouraged Christians to live lives marked by integrity, trustworthiness, and confidence.

He further expressed concern that many individuals who had been baptized and confirmed in the Church were now participating in masquerade activities and idol worship. He called for godly fathers and mothers who would help reverse the trend and nurture children in the Christian faith.

In her remarks, the President of the conference, Mrs. Chinyere Ezeofor, lamented that many young people, who are expected to become future leaders of both the Church and society, were returning to idolatry and patronizing shrines instead of serving God. She called for a change of attitude and renewed commitment to Christian values.

Some delegates, including Dame Chinyere Mbakwe, Lady Ngozi Ike, and the Bishop’s wife nominee, Mrs. Ifeoma Ekwueme, described the conference theme as timely and relevant. They emphasized the need for husbands and wives to work together in raising godly children and encouraged parents to build strong friendships with their children to positively influence their spiritual and moral development.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the conference, which was attended by the wife of the Chancellor of Aguata Diocese, Barrister Ndidi Obiora, featured the cutting of the conference cake and a special musical presentation by the Diocesan Women’s Chorale, among other activities.
