American rapper Nicki Minaj has opened up about facing intense “spiritual warfare” in the music business, claiming powerful industry figures sabotage artists who refuse to follow their rules.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Bryce Crawford podcast, the Trinidad-born star said those who do not comply are made “almost invisible” and treated like property.
“It was constant spiritual warfare. I wish I kind of knew sooner that this music industry was such a spiritual experience because I felt like I brought a knife to a gunfight,” she said.
Minaj alleged that most of the challenges she and other talented artists encountered were orchestrated by unnamed powerful figures who seek to control musicians for financial gain.
She added that she would have come better prepared had she known earlier how deeply spiritual the industry is.
The Grammy-winning artist has frequently spoken about industry politics and pressures throughout her career. Her comments come amid ongoing discussions about mental health, exploitation and hidden influences in entertainment.
