* Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to detained leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu , has draged the President General of Oraifite Improvement Union (OIU) Mr. Vincent Dike to Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja claiming ₦50bn damages for defamation.
In a suit number CV/1224/24, Ejiofor dragged the town union President to Court to challenge the defamatory publications variously made by the said Vincent Dike against, and concerning him. On the 4th day of February, 2024, Mr. Vincent Dike had invited members of Oraifite community and members of the press to Oraifite Civic Center, in his capacity as the President General of Oraifite Improvement Union made some suspected damaging statements against the person of Ejiofor .

* Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Soludo, has said that in less than two years the birthrate in the state has increased from 200 to 1,600 per month. Soludo disclosed this at the 65th birthday ceremony of Sir Emeka Offor in Oraifite in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state at the weekend. Soludo said when he assumed office as the governor “the total birth rate per month was 200, but today it has gone up to 1,600 birth rate with zero mortality.”

* The Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, Olatunde Maku on Monday deployed personnel of the command to all the banking facilities in and around Awka metropolis. ANN reports that the deployment is in line with the statutory functions of NSCDC to protect critical national assets and infrastructure across the federation, Maku said NSCDC is working with other security agencies shall remain undaunted in ensuring the security and safety of Anambra residents.

* Anambra State Police Command has recovered two AK-47 Rifles stolen from two Police formations years back. ANN gathered that one of the rifles was stolen when Zone 13 Headquarters, Ukpo was attacked by unknown gunmen in 2021 while the second rifle was stolen from Area Command Headquarters, Ogidi early last year when the formation was attacked by insurgents. Painstaking intelligence gathering by undercover operatives led to uncovering of a location where the arms were hidden in Nnobi, Idemili South LGA of the State.

* Plans are on by the Anambra State Government to review and upgrade it’s Social Register being used at the moment. The Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget , Mrs Chiamaka Nnake states this when the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Donor Agencies and Sustainable Development Goals, went on oversight function to her ministry at the Jerome Udoji secretariat, Awka. Mrs Nnake said the register should be undergoing regular update and continuous refreshing hence the resolve by the Governor Chukwuma Soludo led administration to review and update it this 2024..

* Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare has declared wanted, one Anambra legal practitioner, Adachukwu Okafor. According to Hon Ify Obinabo, Commissioner for woman affairs, Adachukwu Okafor stands accused of using knives and other sharp objects to inflict injuries on her 11-year-old housekeeper. Anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of Adachukwu Okafor will be handsomely rewarded

* The newly constituted caretaker committee members for the new auto spare parts market Nkpor have been inaugurated by the Anambra State Market Amalgamated Traders Association ASMATA. The inaugural ceremony was preceded by a holy mass officiated by Reverend Father Augustine Nnaemeka. Addressing the traders, the President-General of Anambra State Market Amalgamated Traders Association Chief Humphrey Anuna expressed joy at the turnout of traders at the inaugural ceremony and attributed it to clear evidence that the traders are happy with their newly constituted caretaker leaders.

* Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Aghamba says there is need for communities to always consider the future of their youths in taking long lasting decisions has been stressed. Aghamba made this statement during the inauguration of national executive members of Ogwuari village Nsugbe.

* Anambra State Governor’s wife, Nonye Soludo, has offered nutritional tips on how to make healthy smoothies. In a new release on her official YouTube channel, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, the Governor’s wife explained that contrary to common practice of blending varieties of fruits, healthy smoothie should incorporate mostly vegetables and less fruits.
She noted that nutrition wise, adding multiple fruits for one shake is wrong, explaining that healthy smoothies should have ninety percent vegetables and ten per cent fruits to serve as sweeteners.
