* The President of Rotary Club of Onitsha metropolis, Rtn Oby Arinze, alongside some members of the club has paid a courtesy call on the Managing Director of Sapientia Radio and Tv station Rev. Fr. Aloysius Orakwe. The visit was aimed to create more awareness and also educate people on what Rotary International was all about, especially on the theme of 2024/2025 which is ” the Magic of Rotary”. Speaking on benefits of Rotary, a member of the club and an Assistant Governor, Rtn Obi Ossai explained that Rotary is all about service, putting smiles on the faces of poor masses globally.

*Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has sworn-in the newly appointed Transition Committee Chairmen in the twenty one local government areas of the state.
Soludo while speaking at the event held at the Government House, Awka
congratulated the newly sworn-in Chairmen and commiserated with them largely because of paucity of funds and the humongous responsibilities they are expected to shoulder. Soludo wondered how people usually misinterpret what public office is all about, and expressed his administration’s determination to ensure that every penny will be deployed to serve ndị Anambra.

* The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Olatunde Maku has reaffirmed his commitment to combating illegal mining activities, vandalism of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, unlicensed private security outfits, illegal dealings on petroleum products and petroleum products black market racketeering in Anambra State. Comdt. Maku made this declaration when he received on a courtesy call Prof. Mathias Ananti, Deputy Vice Chancellor; Administration, Prof. Osita Chiaghanam, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, and Dr. Ofozoba Chinonso, Special Assistant to Vice- Chancellor on Allied Matters, all of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam at the NSCDC Headquarters in Awka. During the visit, Commandant Maku reiterated his commitment to delivering on the Corps’ mandate, protecting lives and property, ensuring citizens’ safety and security, and safeguarding Critical Infrastructure spread across the state.

* Anambra State government has donated hundred thousand (100,000) palm trees to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) Igbariam, to foster eco-friendly environment in the school.
The donation was disclosed to Journalists by the University’s Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Kate Azuka Omenugha, during a press conference held at the Varsity’s auditorium ahead of the forthcoming Climate Change Summit and Tree Planting Awareness Campaign organised by the Institution, slated for July 17th, 2024. Prof. Omenugha said the gesture which is first of its kind since the inception of the University was part of the governor’s vision of making Anambra a clean, green, livable, and prosperous state in Nigeria.

* Students of Mass Communication Department, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) and Paul University (PUA), have been trained on news writing techniques and objective reporting. The one-day workshop for students held at
the FM Hall of UNIZIK in Awka was organized by Ikengaonline. Themed, Building a Satisfying Career in Journalism, “the mentoring programme was held with support from the MacArthur Foundation through the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ).

* The newly inaugurated Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili South local government area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has appealed to stakeholders in the council area to support his administration in order to make the council area great. Obi made the call after her Inauguration with his colleagues, stating that together, they are going to take the council area to greater height. She said, with the co-operation of the stakeholders, traditional rulers, councillors and residents, her administration would be able to achieve its mission of delivering dividends of democracy and attract more projects.

* Anambra governor’s wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, has announced immediate plans to distribute hybrid seeds to about five hundred persons in the state to start up their home gardens. Mrs. Soludo, who broke the news on her official social media, said that the aim is to encourage people to adopt home gardens as a means of food sufficiency and healthy living. She said that she would be giving out hybrid seeds every week through the month of July, covering five hundred households across the state and beyond.

* Innoson Vehicle has launched a state-of-the-art car service centre and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion facility in Aba, Abia State.
This development comes on the heels of President Bola Tinubu’s commissioning of the Geometric Integrated Power Project, Nigeria’s first autonomous power plant, which promises uninterrupted power supply to Aba and its environs. The new centre aims to provide comprehensive automotive services, including maintenance and repair, while promoting eco-friendly fuel alternatives through engine conversions. The centre is equipped with modern tools and equipment, staffed by trained technicians, and designed to provide top-notch services to customers.

* An Anambra State based Human Rights Activist, Comrade Osita Obi has raised the alarm over threat to his life and that of his family members by unknown person. Obi who is the Convener of Recover Nigeria Project and coordinator of Anambra Keke Drivers Forum AKDF stated that an unknown person with a strange number, 07077660844 has been calling and threatening to kill him and his family members if he does not remove his hands from Aroma, and Eke Awka Keke Parks. According to Obi, the strange caller claimed he was calling on behalf Amudo youths, Awka. He said that he is worried by the threat given the several unresolved killings in Awka of recent.

* Following the recent cholera outbreak that has claimed many lives in Lagos and other parts of Nigeria, the former Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Mr Peter Obi, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to deploy more financial resources to the health sector to curb further disease outbreaks in the country. He alleged that the cause of the outbreak was a lack of investment in the health sector by the present administration.
