Mrs Soludo Urged Mothers To Build Healthier Closeness With Their Children

Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo has urged mothers to build healthier closeness with their children as a way to help their social, moral and mental developments.

In preparation for this year’s August meeting, Mrs Soludo has been meeting with different women groups in order to have a chat on issues that should form part of the annual meeting’s agenda

She urged mothers to be their children’s best friend by relating with them in a way that gives them freedom to express themselves.

The governor’s wife stated this when she hosted female commissioners, wives of members of Anambra State House of Assembly, commissioners and transition committee chairmen at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.

According the governor’s wife, by sharing closeness with their children, mothers can have an edge over wrong moral and social incursions, especially those that happen around the homes, schools and other environments.

Mrs Soludo also said that it is important for wives to make the home a safe and enjoyable place for the husbands, regretting that family fallouts can affect the larger society negatively.

The Anambra first lady further urged the women to use their positions as opinion leaders to lead the campaign for right health habits, informing them that her healthy living crusade is systemically introducing an acceptable way of life in Anambra households.

The Anambra State Head of Service, Barrister Theodore Igwebe, who was at the meeting, commended the healthy living crusade of the governor’s wife, and noted that the impact would be helpful for not just women and children but for everyone living in the state who is conscious about their health.

The guest speaker, Professor Brian Adinma urged the women to take family planning practices seriously, and to access birth control methods that works within available family resources considering the current rate of indiscriminate birth increase.

The professor of obstetrics and gynecology also spoke about the possibility of sex selection or choice of which gender a couple wants to birth, explaining that with the right knowledge of one’s reproductive system, the possibility of sex selection is hugely achievable.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Anambra State Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs Ify Uzorka, who talked about opportunities in agriculture, advocated for return to organic agricultural practices as against inorganic farming that is harmful to human health.

She noted that despite the current economic difficulties, women have no excuse not to eat healthy, and urged the women to use their August meetings to talk about the health implications of using chemicals to farm or preserve foods.
