- Musician claims taxi operators were recording and mocking him; says clash occurred while waiting for official pickup.
Controversial Nigerian musician, Habeeb Olalomi Badmus, widely known as Portable, has publicly addressed the viral footage showing him involved in a physical scuffle at Port Harcourt airport, firmly denying that he initiated the brawl.
The leader of Zeh Nation addressed the incident, which showed him trading blows with several men, clarifying that the confrontation was provoked by airport drivers who were allegedly harassing him.
Portable explained that he and his team were at the airport waiting for his scheduled transport to arrive for a performance when a group of taxi operators approached him, pressuring him to hire their services.
When he told the drivers he was expecting a ride, he claims they began recording him and verbally abusing him. According to the artist, the drivers were “mocking him, accusing him of being stingy and unwilling to give them money.”
Portable said the verbal harassment continued until an immigration officer intervened. The singer stated that his eventual reaction was born out of frustration, noting that anyone seeking money should direct their demands elsewhere:
”I didn’t start it… I brought out my juju [power]… if you want money, go to the President.”
He also emphasized that the altercation was strictly with the drivers and did not involve airport security or other travelers. The incident is the second public confrontation involving the musician in recent weeks, following a similar event in Ikeja, Lagos State.
