Grammy-winning Nigerian musician Burna Boy has abruptly canceled two major United States tour dates, a decision that follows intense public criticism regarding his recent conduct toward fans during a live performance.
The artist, currently on his ‘No Sign of Weakness’ tour, has canceled his upcoming shows scheduled for November 28 in Minneapolis and December 1 in Chicago. The sudden cancellations were confirmed via Ticketmaster and acknowledged by the artist himself on his social media account.
The decision comes days after a viral incident in Colorado where the Afrobeats star singled out and ejected a couple from his concert, reportedly for sleeping during his set. The controversy deepened when reports emerged that the female fan removed from the venue was allegedly mourning a personal loss, leading to intensified public disapproval of the singer’s actions.
Although tour organizers have not provided an official reason for the schedule changes, the cancellations are widely seen as a response to the ongoing controversy and the accompanying social media backlash.
The incident serves as a sharp reminder, according to industry observers, that “even global stars are reminded that the rhythm of reputation often beats to the tune of public perception, not just performance prowess.”
While the Minneapolis show at The Armory and the Chicago concert are now off the schedule, the rest of the ‘No Sign of Weakness’ tour is currently expected to proceed as planned.
