African Democratic Congress opposition party lambasted President Bola Tinubu’s administration on Friday for overseeing a “complete collapse” of national security following the massacre of 75 Muslims in Kwara State who rejected extremist teachings, demanding urgent accountability to stem escalating violence.
The killings in Kaiama district, confirmed by state Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, targeted locals who refused to yield to militants preaching a “strange doctrine,” marking one of the deadliest attacks in recent months.
In a scathing statement, ADC National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi said: “The African Democratic Congress condemns in the strongest possible terms the recent gruesome killing of about 170 innocent Nigerians in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State. This horrific massacre is one of the worst atrocities recorded in recent times and stands as a painful reminder of the complete collapse of security across the country.”
He added: “The net summary of this… is that the Tinubu administration, whatever it is doing, is not winning the war against terror; it is merely redistributing it.”
Abdullahi further criticized the government’s response as inadequate, stating: “Nigeria’s security crisis has clearly moved beyond the competence and capacity of the Tinubu-led Federal Government. Across the country, killings have become routine, accountability has disappeared, and government response has been reduced to condolences and condemnations.”
The party questioned the efficacy of recent measures, including a November 2025 state of emergency on security and plans to recruit thousands of police, amid concerns that dispersed terrorists are relocating and intensifying attacks in new areas.
