Anambra State House of Assembly on Tuesday at plenary, confirmed the appointment of Barrister Tobechukwu Nweke, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) as the Attorney General and Mr. Izunna Okafor as Commissioner for Finance.
The nominees appeared before the House for screening and confirmation,
following their nomination by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
During the confirmation, lawmakers assessed Nweke and Okafor’s professional competence, experience, and readiness to contribute to the development of Anambra state.
In his remarks, Barrister Nweke assured the House of his determination to initiate reforms in the judicial sector, particularly in enhancing access to justice, strengthening legal institutions, and ensuring the rule of law across the state.
On his part, Mr. Okafor expressed gratitude to the Governor and the Assembly for the opportunity to serve, promising to bring prudence, innovation, and fiscal discipline to the management of the state’s finances.
The House also approves that Governor Chukwuma Soludo appoints up to 16 Special Advisers to enable Prof. Soludo discharge his constitutional duties.
Congratulating the confirmed nominees, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, who presiding over the plenary, urged Nweke and Okafor to justify the confidence reposed in them by delivering effectively in their respective offices.
Rt. Hon. Udeze emphasized the need for transparency, accountability, and commitment to public service.
” I urge both of you to be committed and dedicated in your assignment. You are not doing ir for the Governor but for yourselves and ndi Anambra.
“The 8th Assembly believes in the agenda’s of Prof. Soludo and and we will support both of you in your assignments.
“Its all about one people, one state, one agenda. There are alot of expectations from ndi Anambra and we are convinced that you will deliver’. Udeze stated.
