Labour Party Fixes ₦50m Presidential Form, Grants Otti Free Ticket

Labour Party has fixed the cost of its presidential nomination and expression of interest forms at ₦50 million for the 2027 general elections, while offering both forms free of charge to Abia State Governor Alex Otti.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday alongside the release of the timetable for its 2026 primary elections.

According to the schedule, aspirants for the presidency are required to pay ₦10 million for the expression of interest form and ₦40 million for the nomination form.

Asogwa explained that the party has granted concessions to certain categories of aspirants.

“The party has, however, approved concessions for women, youths aged 25 to 30, and persons living with disabilities, who are only required to pay for the expression of interest forms across all categories,” he said.

He added that Governor Otti, who is also the party’s National Leader, would receive the forms gratis.

“Please note that Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, will receive both his expression of interest and nomination forms free of charge, in recognition of his performance in office and contributions to the party’s image,” Asogwa stated.

The sale of nomination forms is scheduled to begin on May 6 and close on May 16, with submission of completed forms set for May 17 and 18.

The timetable further indicates screening for presidential aspirants on May 22, with primaries for the position slated for May 29.

The party also urged prospective aspirants yet to register as members to complete its ongoing e-registration exercise, which ends at midnight on May 4.

The decision comes as the Labour Party positions itself for the 2027 polls following internal challenges and recent high-profile defections from its fold.
