Ado Girls Secondary School, Onitsha, has been named winner of the Outstanding Organisation Award at the Global AI Youth Competition organized by the International AI Youth Education Society.
Angel Network News (ANN) gathered that
the competition, held from December 2025 to February 2026, attracted student teams from the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Russia, and other countries. Ado Girls secured the award just two months after joining the programme.
The success was achieved through the Digital Access Programme, implemented by TechQuest STEM Academy in partnership with Cummins Inc.
Commenting on the result, the Head of Service of Anambra State, Barr. Ngozi Iwouno, stated that it demonstrates the impact of structured support for public school students.
“It is particularly gratifying to note that your school, under the TechQuest Digital Access Programme funded by the Cummins Foundation Inc, competed creditably alongside student teams from advanced countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, China, and Russia, and distinguished itself with multiple international recognitions,” she said.
Also speaking, the Corporate Responsibility Leader for Africa and the Middle East at Cummins Inc, Mrs. Ify Anene, noted that the award reflects the value of expanding access to technology and mentorship for girls.
“The achievements of the students at Ado Girls Secondary School are a powerful reflection of what can happen when young girls are given access to the right tools, mentorship, and opportunities to thrive in the digital age,” Anene stated.
The Co-Founder of TechQuest STEM Academy, Charles Emembolu, described the win as a model for scaling across Nigeria.
“It is not just a win for Ado Girls. It is a signal of what is possible at scale. When we provide the right infrastructure, curriculum, and support, our young people can deliver outcomes that meet global standards”.
The programme currently provides training in foundational and emerging digital skills to 750 students and 10 teachers.
ANN reports that the achievement marks a significant milestone for digital and artificial intelligence education in Nigeria’s public schools, particularly for female students.
Highlights of the occasion is the celebration of the school’s Career Fair Day, where students presented AI and technology projects to school authorities, representatives of Cummins Inc., and the TechQuest STEM Academy team.
