Barcelona have been fined 602 euros ($700) by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) over their alleged approach for Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo reported.
The case was opened in late July after Atletico complained that Barcelona had approached a player who was under contract.
Notification rule
Atletico based their complaint on competition rules, which require a club wanting to sign a professional player to notify his club in writing before starting negotiations.
FIFA could not open a case because it has no jurisdiction in the matter, so the RFEF handled it, according to the report.
Griezmann precedent
There is a precedent. In 2019, Atletico reported Barcelona to the RFEF over Antoine Griezmann, and that complaint ended in a fine of only 300 euros.
