The staff’s and customers of Access bank branch at Ekwulobia Anambra State, panic as the bank was engulfed with smoke in the early hours of Tuesday.
Both staff’s and customers of the bank where trapped in the building as smoke begins to come out from no where inside the bank.
The security door automatically closed as the smoke increases, and people inside have no other option but use the exit door.
According to an eyewitness who spoke with Angel network news in confidence said that, “as we are inside the bank, I was standing in the customer’s care desk when smoke suddenly engulfed the whole place and when we try to run out the bank main door has been locked because it was a sensitive door”
“Thank God the bank staff attending to me now run through the exit door which I follow suit and other customers also followed us, if not we are trapped inside the bank already”.
A staff of the bank also told Angel network news that the cause of the fire outbreak was traced to abnormal function of the bank generator set.
No death was recorded and the bank was able to control the fire on time.
