The Anambra State Police Command has received the Inspector-General of Police, represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the South-East, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, as part of an ongoing operational tour across the South-East geopolitical zone aimed at strengthening security architecture and enhancing policing effectiveness.
The tour, initiated by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, is designed to improve operational efficiency, promote intelligence-led policing, and deepen collaboration among security agencies and critical stakeholders nationwide.
During the visit, DIG Onwuemelie engaged officers and personnel of the Anambra State Police Command, stressing the importance of developing practical, intelligence-driven solutions tailored to the unique security challenges facing Anambra State and the wider South-East region.
He also highlighted the need for officers to prepare for the future of policing through technology-driven innovations, noting that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be integrated into investigative processes, alongside specialized training programmes on the application of AI in modern policing.
The DIG further urged officers to uphold a people-centred policing philosophy rooted in professionalism, accountability, and respect for human rights.
Welcoming the delegation, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP. Ikioye Orutugu, expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to the vision of the Inspector-General in promoting community-oriented policing and strengthening security across the state.
The operational tour also provided an opportunity for strategic discussions with relevant stakeholders on intelligence sharing, crime prevention, security management, and coordinated responses to emerging threats within the region.
The Anambra State Police Command reiterated its commitment to sustaining strong partnerships with stakeholders and maintaining effective security measures to promote peace, public safety, and socio-economic development across Anambra State and the South-East.
