The Nigerian Air Force has carried out a precision airstrike on terrorist positions in the Yuwe axis of Sambisa Forest in Borno State, eliminating several fighters and destroying fortified structures and logistics facilities.
The operation, conducted on April 19 by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, was based on credible intelligence supported by surveillance assets that confirmed the presence of active terrorist elements in bunkers and hideouts.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, said the strike involved precision munitions that successfully neutralised multiple terrorists and key logistics sites, as verified by subsequent battle damage assessment.
“The sustained tempo of air operations continues to degrade terrorist networks, leaving the terrorists increasingly exposed and disrupted, with mounting pressure forcing them into desperate and reactive actions,” Ejodame stated.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the service’s commitment, declaring: “The Nigerian Air Force will sustain relentless, intelligence-driven air operations until terrorist elements are completely neutralised. We remain committed to the protection of our personnel, the security of our nation, and the safety of all citizens.”
The NAF said it would continue intensifying precision engagements across the theatre while strictly observing rules of engagement to minimise civilian harm.
The strike forms part of ongoing efforts to maintain decisive pressure on terrorist groups operating in the North-East.
