# National Orientation Agency (NOA), Anambra State Directorate has reiterated its commitment in the ongoing war against growing moral decadence among Nigerian youths.

State Director, Mrs Ifeoma Chijioke stated this during a visit to the Anambra State Chairman, Traditional Rulers Council and Traditional Ruler of Obosi, Igwe Chidubem Iweka at his Obosi palace.

She regretted the “signing out of school” practices among graduating secondary school students, describing such unholy act as evil.

The NOA boss said the visit was to brief the monarch, among other things in the state on the developmental programmes, activities and policies of the federal government in the country.

# Emotions ran high among staff of the Anambra State Ministry of Works as they received the new Commissioner for Works, Architect Okey Ezeobi, and the outgoing Commissioner for Works, Engineer Ifeanyi Okoma, at the ministry for the handover and resumption of duty.

The staff of the ministry received them at the gate of the premises as they sang gospel choruses, praise and worship songs, and prayed for Engineer Okoma and Architect Ezeobi.

Addressing the staff, Architect Ezeobi appreciated them for the warm reception accorded him and for giving Engineer Okoma the necessary support that aided him to excel, assuring them that they would work as a family to achieve the vision of Governor Soludo.

Speaking earlier, Engineer Okoma thanked the Anambra State Government for the opportunity given to him to serve the state, noting that the new commissioner, whom he described as a brother, has all it takes to drive the ministry forward, and urged the staff of the ministry to give Architect Ezeobi the same level of support they gave him.

The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Engineer Martin Agbili, while bidding Engineer Okoma farewell, applauded him for his exceptional service, warmly welcomed Architect Ezeobi, and assured him of the support and maximum productivity of the entire staff.

# The people of Oraukwu Community, in the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, are enjoying a new lease of life with significant improvement in economic and social activities in the area.

This is following the completion of a 4.9-kilometre road that connects the community with Oraukwu and Nimo in the Njikoka local government area.

Over the years the poor condition of the now-reconstructed Oraukwu-Nimo road has constituted a great hindrance to farmers in Oraukwu and neighbouring communities in transporting processed and unprocessed bitter leaf and other agricultural produce to places, particularly urban centres, where they are highly needed and used in preparing the popular bitter leaf soup.

This explains why their joy knew no bounds when the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo awarded the contract for the construction of the road, as explained by an indigene, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu.

# Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Orumba North and South House of Representative aspirant, Sir. Amajua Collins Chukwuma says his aspiration is built on a clear vision of transparent, accessible, and people-centered representation.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen, Bar. Amajua maintained that for too long, many constituents have felt disconnected from government, and the impact of representation has not been fully felt at the grassroots.

“My mission is to change that narrative by ensuring that governance becomes closer, more responsive, and more beneficial to every ward and community in Orumba.

“Transparency is the foundation of trust. As your representative, I will ensure that the people of Orumba are fully informed of every project, intervention, and budgetary allocation attracted to the constituency.

“To achieve this, I will publish bi-annual constituency accountability reports showing clear details of projects, progress, funds, and outcomes.

# It was a moment of thanksgiving, joy and celebration at Mater Amabilis Secondary School, Umuoji, as the management, staff, students, parents and well-wishers gathered for the solemn blessing and commissioning of the school’s newly completed multi-purpose building.

The event was performed by the Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Rev. Dr. Valerian Okeke, amidst excitement and gratitude from the school community.

The facility houses a 280-seater ICT Laboratory which also serves as a JAMB CBT Centre, Robotics Hub, Music Laboratory and Mini Studio, 250-seater Library, ultra-modern Chemistry and Physics Laboratories, as well as a 1,400-seater Hall.

In his address after the blessing and commissioning ceremony, Archbishop Okeke thanked God for the completion of the project and commended all stakeholders and the school management for their dedication and support, while describing education as the light of society and urged students to make full use of the facilities provided for their intellectual and moral development.

He further encouraged discipline, hard work and excellence among teachers and students, stressing that the future of society depends on strong academic formation and moral values, while adding that Mater Amabilis is now a school that competes and won Laurels globally.

In his remarks, the Manager, Mater Amabilis Secondary School, Umuoji, Reverend Father Francis Onwuchulum thanked God for His faithfulness and appreciated all those who contributed in one way or another towards the realization of the project.

The Manager described the multi-purpose building as a strategic investment in the future of the students and the educational mission of the Church, emphasizing that education remains one of the greatest tools for societal transformation.

# The Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr Law Mefor held a meeting with staff of the ministry at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.

The commissioner, who expressed happiness to be back with the workers, said that his idea of work environment is the kind that promotes family which makes work more enjoyable.

Mefor said that he would intentionally work to reorganise the civil and public service work setting, using workers of the Ministry of Information as guinea pigs to show how work ought to be, making civil service more enjoyable and providing sufficient motivation.

He stressed the need for workers to be emotionally attached to work, seeing it as their lives to make it more meaningful so that they would not only take out something from it but be able to leave footprints on the sands of time.

# The Anambra State Police Command has expressed concern over the growing trend of individuals aggressively and obstructively recording Police Officers while they are carrying out legitimate law enforcement duties, thereby provoking these officers with insults and creating unnecessary hostility in public spaces.

Police Public Relations Officer,
Anambra State Command, SP. Tochukwu Ikenga in a statement noted that such conduct may compromise public safety and undermine ongoing law enforcement efforts.

“The Command acknowledges and respects the constitutional rights of citizens to record public officers in the discharge of their duties. However, such rights must be exercised responsibly and within the confines of the law.

” The Police reiterates that the act of recording should not degenerate into harassment, intimidation, stalking officers with cameras, verbal abuse, physical confrontation, or any form of obstruction capable of interfering with lawful operations.

“The Command notes that when officers are distracted, insulted, or obstructed during active duty engagements, it negatively impacts their ability to effectively and safely discharge their lawful responsibilities, especially in sensitive security situations.

“The Command observes that in many advanced societies, citizens understand the importance of balancing accountability with respect for law enforcement boundaries, while utilizing lawful channels to seek redress where necessary.

“Accordingly, the Anambra State Police Command urges members of the public, content creators, and social media handlers to remain law-abiding, cooperate with security agencies, and avoid actions capable of obstructing officers in the discharge of their duties.

“The Command remains committed to professionalism, accountability, and respect for the rights of all citizens while continuing to ensure the safety and security of Ndi Anambra.” Ikenga stated

# The Nigerian Union of Pensioners, South-East zone has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for clearing four years of outstanding gratuities owed retirees.

South-East Chairman, Anthony Ugozor who disclosed this during the zonal meeting in Awka, said the gratuities, covering 2017 to 2020, amounted to N22 billion inherited from the previous administration.

Ugozor urged governors across the South-East to emulate Soludo by prioritising pensioners’ welfare and ensuring prompt payment of retirement benefits.

According to the union leader, pensioners who retired on identical grade levels deserved equal pensions regardless of their retirement years.
