* Anambra Youth Movement (AYM), a group of youth professionals in the state has said that it is disturbed by the rising penchant by faceless social media writers to deliberately create public discount in the case of the State Vs Ozo Jeff Nweke and two others now before Awka High Court 1, in the state.
The group said in a statement signed by its Chairman, Johnson Maduka that since the matter with charge No; Awk/6c/2025 in which Ozo Nweke and two others were charged with the alleged kidnap of one Benjamin Ezenma otherwise known as Big Ben, was mentioned, these writers have gone to town with all manner of insinuations aimed at propagating public odium against the person of Ozo Jeff Nweke and whip up public hatred against him.
The statement further said that these social media writers failed to realize that courts are apolitical, temple of justice which dispense justice based on the fact before them without sentiments.

Members of the group praised Governor Soludo’s visionary leadership, describing him as a true “talk and do” leader who has been fulfilling his promises to the people.
They emphasized that Soludo’s administration has brought significant progress to Anambra, making it a model state for development, security, and economic transformation.
* Aggrieved youths of Nimo Community in Njikoka local government area have boldly expressed their support for Owelle Nimo, Igwe Maxi Ike Oliobi, and have made it clear that they will not accept any disrespect towards the throne.
The youths, in a show of unity and determination, declared their commitment to upholding the dignity of the Igwe and the traditions of their community.
Responding, Mayor of Njikoka, Barr. Chinedu Dominic Ononiba, assured the aggrieved youths that peace will soon return to Nimo Community.
Hon. Ononiba stated that the Anambra State government is working tirelessly to resolve the ongoing leadership crisis in the community and restore harmony.
The Mayor expressed his gratitude to the youths for their peaceful demonstration, urging them to maintain calm as efforts to restore peace continue.
* A female civil servant was caught stealing a bar of soap and a packet of biscuit at the Amawbia Bypass Park.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred when the civil servant, whose identity has been withheld, was seen concealing the items in her bag. Notably, she was dressed in an expensive outfit, wearing perfume, and had heavy and shouting makeup.
When questioned, she allegedly claimed she was “under a lot of stress” and “wasn’t thinking clearly.”
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for stricter punishment.
* Anambra State government has warned schools in the state to be vigilant and not allow fraudulent revenue agents to operate on their premises.
Anambra Commissioner for Education, Prof. Chuma-Udeh gave the warning during a meeting with proprietors of private schools in Onitsha South at the Ministry of Education’s Conference Hall, Udorji State Secretariat Complex, Awka.
Prof. Chuma-Udeh emphasized that schools must verify with the Ministry of Education before responding to summons or allowing revenue collection agents access to their premises. According to her, only agents with proper authorization letters from the Ministry should be entertained.
* The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra Command has arrested two suspected members of tricycle (Keke) snatching syndicate in Awka, the
State capital.
Commandant Maku Olatunde, the NSCDC State Commandant who confirmed the arrest at the NSCDC State Headquarters said the suspects were apprehended after snatching a tricycle from a victim at Araba Umuzocha Awka.
“Acting on a tip- off, the command operatives smatched a three- man gang operating along Araba Umuzocha Awka and its environs.
“Nemesis caught up with them after they forcefully snatched a tricycle popularly known as Keke NAPEP from a victim at Araba Umuzocha close to Regina Junction by Ziks Avenue Araba Awka but were rounded up as they tried to escape, two of the suspects were arrested while one (now at large) escaped.
* The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Aguata Chapter has hosted a remarkable charity outreach program for youths with disabilities.
In a gesture of support and empowerment, 50 Aguata Young people with disabilities received 10kg bag of rice, additional one painter rice, detergent, and #1,000 cash each to aid their transportation.
Leader of NYCN, Aguata chapter, Hon. Comr. Mmaduabuchi Ezekafor in his address, acknowledged the contributions of youths, including students, and notable individuals who supported the event.
The Youth leader emphasized that the greatest disability is that of the mind, encouraging youths to engage and recognize that there is ability despite the presence of disability.
* The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has called on eligible citizens to regularly pay their taxes as a civic responsibility and contribution towards the growth and development of the state.
Rt. Hon. Udeze made the call when he hosted members of Tax Justice and Governance Platform, (TJ&GP), on an advocacy visit to his office, under the Tax for Service Project implemented in partnership with the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre, (CISLAC) with funding support from Oxfam Nigeria.
According to the Speaker, the present administration of Professor Chukwuma Soludo has through its massive infrastructural development across the state, shown that tax money can be properly applied for common good.
* The Mayor of Idemili South local government area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has called on residents in the state to embrace agriculture to help curb food insecurity in the country.
Obi made this statement today during Agriculture Support Program of “Renewed Hope Initiative”, championed by Nigeria First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON.
She urged all to gear up towards transforming the food system and help curb food insecurity within the agriculture sector as well as enable them to make a decent living out of it.
While appreciating Senator Oluremi Tinubu and Dr. Mrs Soludo for their efforts towards the progress and development of women in the state and Nigeria, she added that embracing agriculture is one feasible way to solve our immediate food crisis while providing wealth for us.
* The Commissioner of Police, CP. Ikioye Orutugu has paid a familiarization visit to the Acting Vice Chancellor Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu and his management team.
The CP. while speaking revealed that the essence of the visit is to seek more cooperation and collaboration of strategic stakeholders in the State. He further proposes to build a Police post on the land donated by the Management Team to curb criminal activities, provide a faster response to emergencies, and maintain a safer environment for students, faculty, and the surrounding community of Ifite and Amansea axis.
In his response, the Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Ikechebelu who spoke on behalf of the Management team thanked the Police team. Ikechebelu lauded the Commissioner’s commitment to security and expressed confidence in his ability to tackle crime in Anambra State, especially within the University community.
