Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has officially rebranded his stage and social media identity as “Mr P-Square,” signaling what he calls a “fresh era” ahead of his 2026 musical resurgence.
In a fiery social media post, the singer — one half of the famed P-Square duo — announced that all his digital platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok, now carry the new handle “Mr P-Square.” He hinted that his Facebook profile will soon follow suit.
“Remove PSQUARE from your name? If the name na your papa name, come remove am!” Mr P wrote, mocking critics who questioned his decision to retain the P-Square moniker. “I have officially taken the name, so cry more! My social media handles are now officially Mr P-Square. If e pain you, unfollow me!”
The announcement comes ahead of the release of his upcoming single “PETERU,” which he described as part of a personal and professional “cleansing” before the new year.
“I need pure cleansing on this my page before the release of my new single ‘PETERU’ in few weeks time. This coming 2026 is a no-nonsense year!” he wrote.
Mr P, whose full name is Peter Obumuneme Okoye, did not hold back in expressing frustration toward detractors. In his words:
“Call it childish or petty! I don’t care. I’ve stopped being the bigger person or Mr nice guy. It’s aura for aura, egusi for egusi, oha for oha, eba for eba. Period!”
The singer, who along with his twin brother Paul Okoye (Rudeboy) formed one of Africa’s most successful pop duos, has faced constant social media pressure from fans nostalgic for their united days as P-Square.
Music analysts suggest the rebranding could mark a new chapter in Peter Okoye’s solo career, blending personal defiance with creative reinvention.
For now, his message is unmistakable — Mr P-Square is here to stay, and as he puts it, “2026 will be a no-nonsense year.”
