AFC Bournemouth kept their UEFA Champions League hopes alive after holding Manchester City to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday, a result that officially handed the Premier League title to Arsenal F.C.
Eli Junior Kroupi gave the home side a first-half lead before Erling Haaland struck late to salvage a point for the defending champions. The result leaves City four points behind leaders Arsenal with just one match remaining.
Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Burnley on Tuesday had already put immense pressure on Pep Guardiola’s side, and the draw at Bournemouth mathematically ended their title challenge.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, kept alive their pursuit of a UEFA Champions League qualifying spot. They sit three points behind fifth-placed Liverpool, who occupy the final Champions League place, with one game still to play.
The match came on the same evening that reports emerged of Guardiola’s impending departure from Manchester City at the end of the season.
City now face a final fixture against Aston Villa as they look to finish the campaign strongly under the outgoing manager.
