* The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra state led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo has dismissed claims by opposing political parties in the area that it spent the sum of N3.5 billion on vote buying during the just concluded State Assembly election last Saturday. ANN reports that APGA won 17 out of the 30 seats at the state Assembly and followed by the Labour Party that won 8 seats with the Young Progressives Party YPP and People’s Democratic Party PDP winning three and two seats respectively. According to a release signed by the Press Secretary to Gov Charles Soludo, Mr Christian Aburime those allegations are not only baseless but unfounded adding that the general public should disregard them.
* Mrs Nonye Soludo has explained that mothers form the nucleus of humanity and must always be celebrated. The Governor’s wife, who stated this in Awka, to mark the annual fixture, said that mothers deserve to be celebrated every day because of the immeasurable roles they play in family and societal success. She also noted that the annual occasion should not only remind everyone of the essence of motherhood, but must be seen as a period to dissect vast issues that affect the existence of women and the girl child, including rising cases of gender-based violence and abuses.Â
* The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, PhD on the 20th March 2023 inspected the construction of a block of four classroom at Community Secondary School, Ugbene in Awka North LGA of Anambra State. Inspecting the project, Ekwunife described Ugbene as a Community with invaluable potentials, noting that her desire for improvement of Education in the zone especially in the rural areas form the basis for the project intervention.
* Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Candidate for Awka South 2 Constituency, Barr. Ifedi Josiah said the election may be over but the campaign continues. While expressing gratitude to his supporters, Josiah said “I still believe, as deeply as I ever have, that if we stand together and work together, with strength in our convictions, and love for our constituency, the best days are still ahead of us.
* A village farmer, Abuchi Bernard Udemezue of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ayamelum State Constituency has ended third term re-election bid of the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Uchenna Okafor of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Declaring the results of the poll in the area, the INEC Returning Officer for the election , Prof George Onwudiwe, said PDP polled 12,993 votes to defeat Okafor of APGA who garnered 11,445 and others.
* Anambra State prophet, Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, known as Odumeje has reportedly announced that he would die soon. A source in his church who spoke on condition of anonymity said Odumeje gave the revelation in his Sunday service at Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, Onitsha Anambra State. The source said, “We’re all surprised when daddy( Odumeje), announced this to us. We all shouted. Some wept.
* Labour Party House of Assembly Candidate Oyi Constituency Mr. OCN Okafor said the yearning for a new Nigeria is far from reality, with the desperation, institutionalized and weaponization of poverty by the incumbent administration, both at state and federal levels. Reacting after the Anambra Assembly elections, Okafor expressed appreciate to all those who supported his ambition of becoming a lawmaker.
* The DPO of Umunze Divisional Police Headquarters, Mr. Emeka Obi has received the leadership of NYCN Orumba South Chapter, Anambra state, led by Comr. Uchenna Ejeri. During the visit, the NYCN Orumba South Coordinator assured the DPO of the cooperation of the council and entire youths of Orumba South to ensure smooth running of his administration.
